Bio

Rosina Gil graduated in 2000 from the National Ballet School of Uruguay, with the Elena Smirnova award. She was hired in 2001 by the BNS (National Ballet of Uruguay).

From 2002 to 2004 she joined the Uninorte Ballet of Paraguay, as Principal Dancer.

In 2005 she joined the David Campos Dance Company in Barcelona.

In 2008 she participated with Cirque du Soleil in Expo-Zaragoza, with the show "The awakening of the serpent".

In 2009 she entered the Ballet Carmen Roche in Madrid playing Soloist roles.

In 2010 she rejoined the BNS (National Ballet of Uruguay), this time under the direction of Julio Bocca, dancing soloist and prima ballerina roles. In 2011 she was nominated by Dance-Europe magazine as one of the "100 best dancers in the world" for her performance as Blanche in "A Streetcar Named Desire". In 2014 she created the choreography "Cosmopolis" for the SODRE National Ballet (BNS).

In 2015 she joined the “Companhia de dança Deborah Colker”, Brazil. Performing principal roles, and participating directly in the creation of the choreography "Cao sem plumas”, a Play that won the Benois awards for best choreography

In 2018 she was approached by Cirque du Soleil to star in the Big Top touring show VOLTA as "The Ballerina” and also as an Artistic Coach. She toured throughout North America for two years and, while on the road, in 2019 she created a choreography called "Mueca "as a stimulus for Cirque du Soleil acrobats.

In 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, she created the work VARADA, from the loneliness of her apartment in Uruguay. VARADA received two awards from the Ministry of Culture from Uruguay.

In 2021 she returned to the SODRE National Ballet of Uruguay (BNS) as Principal Dancer. She also participated with Julio Bocca as the co-protagonist and choreographer of the video clip MI AUSENCIA of the band No Te Va Gustar.

In 2022, she received the Manuel Oribe award for Uruguayans recognized in culture worldwide in the category of Dance. That same year, she performed in the BNS productions "Firebird" by Marcia Haydée, "Minus 16" by Ohad Naharin, and "Raymonda" by Luiz Ortigoza.

In 2023, Rosina created and directed the Gala Night 2023 in Punta del Este.

In 2024, she participated in the creation of Swan Lake by Juliano Nunes.
